Due to the significance of angiogenic factor secretion in conferring high malignancy to gliomas, and since several studies indicate a role for hERG currents (IhERG) in neuroendocrine secretion (Rosati et al, 2000; Bauer et al, 2003; Gullo et al, 2003), we sought a functional link between hERG1 activity and the secretion of angiogenic factors, such as VEGF. This evidence concerns the gene KCNH2 and glioma.
