In this study, we have shown that PSG9 is ectopically expressed in colorectal cancer and this is most likely APC dependent, since abnormal expression can be detected as early as in normal appearing epithelial cells and adenomas of the FAP cases which carry APC germline mutations, while corresponding normal tissue in sporadic colorectal cancer tumors lack PSG9 expression. The gene discussed is PSG9; the disease is adenoma.
