From this study, it is concluded that IGF-I promoter polymorphism genotype is related to birth weight in men only, that this genotype is not associated with risk factors for CVD and T2DM, and, most interestingly, that the IGF-I promoter polymorphism genotype modifies the relationship between birth weight and risk factors for CVD and T2DM, especially for SBP and DBP. The gene discussed is IGF1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
