As previously mentioned, CD7 has been identified as a critical receptor for galectin-1-induced apoptosis, and it has been recently demonstrated, that CD7− T cells from patients with mycosis fungoides/Sezari syndrome are protected from galectin-1-mediated apoptosis (Rappl et al, 2002; Roberts et al, 2003). This evidence concerns the gene CD7 and Sezary syndrome.
