TP53 and neoplasm: The effects of p53, and its abnormalities, on the response of tumours to cytotoxic drugs, radiation, and chemoradiation are complex (Blandino et al, 1999; Bunz et al, 1999; El-Deiry, 2003; Fei and El-Deiry, 2003; Gudkov and Komarova, 2003), and it is, perhaps, unrealistic to expect a straightforward relationship between any abnormality of p53 and the response to treatment with chemotherapy.
