The immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs) are 50 000 times more potent at inhibiting TNF secretion, more potent inducers of T-cell proliferation with IFN and IL-2 secretion, and inhibitors of IL-1B and IL-6 secretion, and in in vitro studies demonstrate an increased myeloma cell kill (Hideshima et al, 2000). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and plasma cell myeloma.
