TP53 and cancer: Although p53 mutation accompanied by complete loss of the wild-type allele is the most frequent event observed in many human cancers (Greenblatt et al, 1994), we found no preference of mutation with LOH (n=24), mutation without LOH (n=22) or LOH without mutation (n=21) in 94 Taiwanese OSCCs with germline heterozygosity in codon 72 (Arg/Pro).
