Recently, the clinical relevance of the EGFR has been heightened in light of the development of the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors, Getifinib and Erlotinib and EGFR monoclonal antibodies Cetuximab that have been demonstrated to have antitumour activity in solid tumours including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (Giaccone et al, 2004; Herbst et al, 2004a, 2004b; Lynch et al, 2004b). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
