Hypermethylation of the DBCCR1 gene as well as LOH and homozygous deletions at the DBCCR1 locus have been shown to be frequent events in bladder cancer (Fujiwara et al, 2001; Habuchi et al, 1998, 2001; Nishiyama et al, 1999). The gene discussed is BRINP1; the disease is urinary bladder cancer.
