Inactivation of the AXIN1 gene has been demonstrated to induce β-catenin/TCF transcription, and AXIN1 gene mutations have been described in hepatocellular carcinomas, hepatoblastomas, colorectal cancers, ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinomas and in sporadic medulloblastomas (Satoh et al, 2000b; Webster et al, 2000a; Laurent-Puig et al, 2001; Dahmen et al, 2001b; Wu et al, 2001; Shimizu et al, 2002; Taniguchi et al, 2002; Yokota et al, 2002; Baeza et al, 2003; Miao et al, 2003). This evidence concerns the gene AXIN1 and colorectal cancer.
