HMGCR and rhabdomyolysis: It appears that these interactions do not have a relevant clinical effect on the efficacy of the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors to reduce the cLDL from the plasma, but the concomitant administration of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and cyclosporine, fibrate or nicotinic acid may enhance the risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis (Berland et al, 1991; Smith et al, 1991; Meier et al, 1995).
