FAS and pancreatic neoplasm: Moreover, we reported the existence of another, inducible resistance-mechanism operating in these cells: upon ligand binding, both CD95 and TRAIL-R activated protein kinase C (PKC) which protected pancreatic tumour cells from apoptosis by preventing the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and cytochrome C release as well as by activation of NF-κB (Trauzold et al, 2001).
