The observed n-3 PUFAs induced downregulation of mRNA transcriptional level and protein COX-2, which is in good agreement with previous reports that a short-term dietary intervention in men with prostate cancer led to a significant increase in omega-3/omega-6 fatty acid ratios in adipose tissue, and the potential for the diet to prevent the development and progression of prostate cancer by way of altered expression of COX-2 expression in prostatic tissue specimen which was determined by semiquantitative RT–PCR (Aronson et al, 2001). Here, PTGS2 is linked to prostate carcinoma.
