In order to further investigate a possible role for other angiogenic factors in endometrial cancer, we investigated the presence of transcripts for VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VEGF-C, VEGF-D, Ang-1 and Ang-2 in benign postmenopausal endometrium, ACH and endometrioid endometrial carcinoma by in situ hybridisation and used quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine the levels of VEGF-B and Ang-2 mRNA in benign and malignant endometrium. The gene discussed is VEGFB; the disease is achondroplasia.
