We studied the effect of resveratrol, a natural polyphenolic compound found especially in black grapes, peanuts, berries and Itadori tea (Burns et al, 2002), on the expression of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes in the human breast cancer cell lines MCF7, MDA-MB 231 and HBL 100. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast cancer.
