IGF2 and colon adenocarcinoma: In a previous work we have shown that aspirin treatment may affect the proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of the human colon adenocarcinoma Caco-2 cells; in particular, we observed that, depending on the doses, aspirin treatment may induce apoptosis and a significant DNA synthesis inhibition associated with a modification in the level of the insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) (Ricchi et al, 1997), an autocrine growth factor for this cell line (Zarrilli et al, 1994, 1996).
