The term pseudohypoparathyroidism describes a group of disturbances characterized by increased PTH levels, hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, and target tissue unresponsiveness to the biological actions of PTH.11 Four pseudohypoparathyroidism variants have been described: type Ia, type Ib, type Ic, and type II.
